Pemalang Grand Mosque

Pemalang government organized a national competition to gather ideas for the grand mosque for the city. The design proposed here tried to reinterpret a traditional central java architecture with its stilt structure and half-pyramid roof into a more contemporary style. The overall massing layout were separated to create a clear hierarchy of different function as well as creating more breathing space in this dense urban context. Islamic calligraphy art were also reinterpreted and applied to the façade elements.
